A useful working relationship

Effective therapy is not simply a series of conversations. It is a working relationship with enough clarity, trust, and structure to make difficult subjects discussable and change possible.

That often includes understanding patterns, agreeing on priorities, and returning to what is useful when the work becomes difficult. Progress is rarely linear, but a good treatment plan makes the next useful step easier to identify.
